Living on a Dollar a DaySuzanne Marmion/World Vision Report
Mr. and Mrs. Phiri leave their home at dawn to hoe their fields. The straw circle in Mrs. Phiri’s hands helps her balance heavy loads on her head.
Description
More than one billion people in the world live on less than a dollar a day. You probably have heard that before. But what does it really mean to survive on that little? Correspondent Suzanne Marmion spent 24 hours with a family in Malawi in Southern Africa. There, the entire family makes do with less than a dollar a day.
Encore presentation from June 25, 2006. This story was a New York Festivals Bronze Medal Winner in 2008.
